This week, I'd really appreciate your input, people of all abilities, have a say!. I want to speak frankly about the divide within the disability community. How can we expect to get equal rights when we live in our own disability specific bubbles? Is someone with a congenital disability any better prepared for life than someone who acquires one later? Why are some forms of impairment more embraced by mainstream media than others? When you live on the outside of the fully able bodied world, some start to wonder where their loyalties lie. Until we agree to accept our differences, I think that we can not be a contingent voice for our general need....acceptance, equal access to a good life and respect.
