Luis J. Rodriguez is the former poet laureate of Los Angeles with 16 multi-genre books. He's a 2022 California Arts Council Legacy Fellowship and recipient of 2022's Robert Kirsch Life Achievement Award from the Los Angeles Times. He's best known for the best-selling 1993 memoir "Always Running, La Vida Loca, Gang Days in L.A." and its 2012 sequel "It Calls You Back: An Odyssey Through Love, Addiction, Revolutions & Healing." His last poetry book is 2016's "Borrowed Bones." His last book is 2020's "From Our Land to Our Land: Essays, Journeys & Imaginings from a Native Xicanx
