The founding fathers wanted to create a government that would assure that all men could attain life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This government was set up as a republic not a democracy. The founding fathers feared democracies stating that "democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention". If the founding fathers were alive today and witnessed what we have allowed the government of the United States to evolve into, do you think they would approve?
