According to an article on The Wild Hunt dated 5/14/15: "The Great Lakes Naval Recruit Training Command (RTC), where enlisted Navy recruits go for Basic Training, has stopped religious services for six minority religious designations. This includes “Earth-Centered” worship. In place of the weekly community worship service led by a volunteer civilian faith leader, trainees have been told that they will have an hour of private “contemplation and reflection.” In response, Pagan civil rights group Lady Liberty League is working to change what they, and other religious rights groups, consider a discriminatory practice." Please follow the above linkf or the entire article.
This comes on the tails of the U.S. Veterans' Association approving the Pentacle and other Pagan religious symbols for use on military graves as well as various branches of the military recently approving Heathenry and other Pagan faiths as legitimate religions for personnel. Along with Lady Liberty League, the Military Religious Freedom Foundation and other groups are looking into what can be done to correct this injustice for our services members. MRFF has gone so far as to threaten to sue of the discrimination. All of this and more can be found in the Wild Hunt article.
RevKess and KaliSara will address this and other issues that effect the Pagan community in this episode of Pagan Weekly News.
