'Radio on the Road' Series at One World Spiritual Center

Recorded Sunday, August 19th, 2012

Open Minds Open Hearts Radio Show took Interfaith Dialogue on site into a faith community. In the first of the 'Radio on the Road' Series, co-sponsored by Open Minds Open Hearts Radio and host center One World Spiritual Center, in the wake of a mass-shooting at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin, as well as several recent acts of arson or vandalism against Islamic mosques, representatives from six religions gathered in northeast Cobb County, Georgia for an interfaith discussion.

The Interfaith panel participants were Preetpal Singh, representing the Sikh tradition; Dr. Steve Chervin, representing the Jewish tradition; Iraj Khodadoost, representing the Baha’i tradition; Rev. Stephanie Seigh, representing the Christian tradition; Gary Arnold, representing the Pagan tradition; and Nafis Rehman, representing the Islamic tradition. The panel of six different faiths engaged in an 1 ½ hour panel discussion before 35 people at the One World Spiritual Center discussing the roots of their faith. Speakers emphasized that their religions had more in common than differences, with each using a written scripture that leads to different interpretations of the religion’s philosophy. In answering questions from the audience they agreed that a rise of fundamentalism and bigotry poses challenges in all faith traditions.
