Continuing our interview series with leaders and luminaries, today we’re talking to Hank Barry.

Hank Barry is co-chair of Sidley Austin’s Emerging Companies/Venture Capital practice and a founder of the firm’s Palo Alto office. He has advised many prominent tech companies as an attorney, an investor and a director including seven companies in which he was involved from formation through IPO. He has testified twice before the US Senate Judiciary committee with respect to technology and intellectual property policies. Prior to joining Sidley, Hank was a managing director at Hummer Winblad Venture Partners in San Francisco, and from 2000 to 2002 he served as CEO and board member for Napster. In 2011 he represented Baidu in connection with its breakthrough agreement with One Stop China, a joint venture of Universal Music, Warner Music, and Sony Music, for the distribution of digital music in China. In 2013 Hank represented Society6 LLC in its acquisition by Demand Media, Inc. Hank currently represents Amazon.com and many other companies in digital media matters. And he’s recognized in the 2012, 2013 and 2014 editions of Best Lawyers in America.
