As Michael Brewer fights for his life after being set on fire by other boys, his grandmother Renee Brewer pleads for Americans to stop setting destructive examples. However many people may simply disregard her concerns because they do not realize how much our youth is learning divisiveness and disrespect from 'us" as we callously attack "them." From the political infighting to the cultural bullying, our youth are being taught that anyone who does not agree with them is the enemy. And even worse, that they should be cruel and insulting when opposing them. This program is designed to offer tangible solutions to the critical issues that are challenging the quality of life in various populations. We invite forward thinkers, entrepreneurs and solutions oriented talkers to engage in meaningful problem solving. These episodes may be forwarded to government officials (and other concerned entities) to let them review solutions oriented discussions. GRANT ANNOUNCEMENTS: NATIONAL MENTORING PROGRAM- This program’s goal is to reduce juvenile delinquency, drug abuse, truancy, and other problem and high-risk behaviors. The objective of this program is to provide direct one-on-one mentoring, group mentoring, or peer-mentoring services to underserved youth populations. Successful applicants should implement programs that will recognize and address the factors that can lead to or serve as a catalyst for delinquency or other problem behaviors in underserved youth (e.g., lack of education or employment opportunities, attitudes in the community or family that condone criminal activity, lack of parental supervision). http://ojjdp.ncjrs.gov/grants/solicitations/FY2010/NationalMentoring.pdf
