Season 2, Episode 10: Man, Wife, and Agriculture

Laurence F. Muhammad, born Lawrence Palmer, has been growing and planting since he was six years old. Whether it was helping his father in the garden in Hartford, CT. or tending to his many house plants, Bro. Laurence was told by many in his family that he had a green thumb. At thirteen, Bro. Laurence was introduced to horticulture by Jill Barrett of the Knox Parks Foundation. This would be the beginning of his formal training in agriculture and horticulture. 

Chaava Muhammad, an event, promotions, and marketing coordinator of Dress The Garden, is a native of Brooklyn, NY. After taking the journey to Tuskegee, Alabama for the 18th anniversary of the Million Man March, Chaava teamed up with her husband Laurence, to form B.A.S.E. (Black Agriculture Survival Expo), which aims in helping the black nation recognize the importance of beginning to do for self, instead of being dependent on others. B.A.S.E. would be a platform where black farmers, manufacturers, distributors, students,
