Rolando Lyles is a first year Ph.D student at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine studying Cancer Biology. Rolando received his undergraduate training and education at the University of Pennsylvania where he studied Bioengineering and minored in Mathematics and Engineering Entrepreneurship. While at Penn, Rolando also completed a Master’s degree in Biotechnology in Biopharmaceutical engineering. Currently, Rolando’s research interests lie in prostate cancer- the leading cause of cancer related mortality for black men. Rolando studies the transition of treatment susceptible prostate cancer to an aggressive and incurable form of prostate cancer termed castration resistant prostate cancer (CRPC). CRPC arises after initial treatments. Rolando’s research objective is to understand the molecular basis of this transition to CRPC in order to tailor therapeutics to prevent or prolong its onset.
