A teaching background with a degree in Physical Education, English and French from the University of British Columbia (UBC), Joan later acquired a TESL certificate from Vancouver City College (VCC).  She taught children, teens, and adults in a varied career from Cranbrook’s cradle in the Rockies to the North Shore’s west coast.

She enjoys cross-country skiing, open-water swimming, bicycle touring and kayaking with her husband, Ken.  A bicycle tour of Vancouver Island’s Cowichan Valley will feature in ‘Senior Living’ magazine in 2013.  She has published in ‘Coast & Kayak’ magazine and of course in NSWA anthologies, and is this year’s poetry prizewinner for her poem, ‘Sand Castles’ which is now viewable on youtube.

A long-time member of Pandora’s Vox Vocal Ensemble, Joan blends vocals, image and word to kick up some spray in the Youtubing world.   Check out her website:  www.joanboxall.com or go to Joan Boxall on Youtube.
