Chad Channing Reflects on Nirvana and His New Band Before Cars

NWP welcomes Chad Channing and his new band Before Cars

Yes, much like The Beatles has Pete Best, unbeknown to many, Nirvana has Chad Channing. Channing drummed for Nirvana during the recording of their debut record, Bleach. But then, following alleged frustrations over the band’s songwriting process, Channing decided to walk away, giving way to the incomparable Dave Grohl.

Yes, Chad Channing walked away from a band that would later go on to define an entire generation.

And even though he did play drums on the band’s debut album, it’s just not enough to land Channing an induction into the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame. Nirvana will rightly be inducted into the hall — it’s the first year they’re eligible — on April 10 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, US. Apparently bassist Krist Novoselic lobbied for Channing to be inducted alongside himself, Grohl and Kurt Cobain, but that prodding wasn’t enough.

Now Chad as a new hot band "Before Cars" and this time around, he is right where he wants to be!
