In 2010 the FBI named Atlanta one of the top 14 cities for the highest incidence of child prostitution. Much of the traffic is internet-based, according to a recent study by the Schapiro Group, and the majority off that traffic comes from the northern suburbs. Many of the teens are forced into weekends at hotels, working at conventions.

Though teen prostitution has dropped from 500 teens on the street in a month to just under 300 per month, it is still a problem in Atlanta. The children comes from all walks of life, however, there are some typical patterns associated with teen prostitution which are teens coming from abusive families or are homeless. They run away, looking for control of their life and something better. It often turns into tragedy.

It seems logical that a parent would see warning signs before a child runs away, but that’s not always the case. As parents we sometimes ignore the red flags rather than dealing with a tough situation. We think our kids are the “good ones” who know better. We will discuss warning signs of prostitution in your house! Also, we will discuss the debut book: 48 Months: Living Behind Bars and understand how one teen felt about prostitution and what has helped her to change. Saturday, November 16 at 1PM!
