Though some may deny it, as humans we have tended to feel that we are the supreme beings on earth and the only ones who are intelligent and aware.  Is that really true?  And, if other animals were also sentient and had abilities we don’t have, what would that imply?  Diane Brandon, your host and author of Intuition for Beginners, is joined this week by Dr. Brian Hare, Associate Professor of Evolutionary Biology at Duke University, Director of the Duke Canine Cognition Center, and author of The Genius of Dogs – How Dogs are Smarter than You Think.  Dr. Hare has been studying the cognitive abilities of animals, specializing in those of dogs and has been surprised by some of what he’s learned.  Our co-inhabitants of this planet may be richer in their awareness that we may have ever guessed.
