Many people find better balance in their emotional stability and how they interact with their family thanks to the benefits of prescription anti-depressant drug therapy. But others, find no benefit. The approach from Metabolic Medicine is to look for the underlying causes of the depression and address them. The concept of surpassing anti-depression and reaching for more joy and less stress is the goal! I have personally experienced this great benefit, having been on 2 anti-depressant drugs at the same time 8 years ago. I am grateful that those drugs helped me function better and kept me working, but it wasn't until the hypothyroidism I was suffering from was treated that I could feel true joy again, a joy that I hadn't felt in nearly 10 years. I hadn't realized how joyless my life had become! This is why addressing the underlying cause is so important.
