Tonight's special guest is Leah McBride from Cincinnati, Ohio, a survivor of both child abuse and domestic violence. Leah and her three younger sisters grew up in a tumultuous situation with a violent mother who frequently left the kids in the care of her brothers, their sexually abusive uncles. When bruises were discovered on the girls at school, there began a cycle of being passed back and forth between their father, their mother and foster care. At one point her mother forced Ms McBride, at 14, to feed the family and her mom's crack addiction by selling drugs. The following year her closest sister hung herself. At 17 she had 2 heart attacks. In her late 20s she earned a degree in Criminal Justice, but turned to drugs and alcohol and became a stripper, drug dealer and pimp. She struggled through periods of sobriety and near madness, eventually learning to incorporate her parts of life story into successful comedy appearances. Not long ago she was sexually assaulted by a fellow comic who she thought of as a brother. Leah says, "I wanted to die. I wanted to kill myself but God wouldn't let me." She continues, "I decided to stop playing with God and do more for God and help others. I am very open, brutally honest and transparent about my life because that's what you have to be in order to help others." Now a successful comedienne, she says, "I just want to make God proud of me and help as many people through my pain with my public speaking and comedy!"
