Can reparations help heal the cultural divide in the U.S.?

The reason why I ask is for a good reason. There is clearly a division between cultures in this country. I am trying to understand why this is the case. It's possible that reparations can be used to help heal the wounds of the past which still causes much pain to this country to this very day
