Join Deacon Kristina Rake of the United States Old Catholic Church as she shares the meaning of Jesus' Parables. Each week, Powerbles will examine one of Jesus' many teaching stories, or Parables, as well as the specific events in Jesus' life. Deacon Rake, a theologican and scripture scholar, will explain how each story is meant to teach us something about God, His plan, the Work of Christ, the Sacraments, and, of equal importance, our own relationship with God. From the Prodigal Son to the Man Born Blind, Powerbles will first illuminate the story by grounding it in its first century context. Then Deacon Rake, an award-winning teacher, speaker, preacher, and author, will bring the story to you in a personal way, recasting it in modern terms and explaining how Jesus' words can transform our lives in the here and now.

For the next several weeks, the parables of Lent will be the center of the series.

Deacon Kristina Rake, M.A., has been teaching apologetics, scripture, theology, and spirituality for 16 years. She is a deacon in the United States Old Catholic Church and is currently in formation for the Old Catholic Priesthood. She can be reached at: myoldcatholic@gmail.com.
