Modern society has a hard time with "denying the self". It conjures for them the images of hair-shirts and crawling on the knees forty miles because the pope said to. Yes, this idea has been taken way too far in the past. But self-denial is a fundamental spiritual discipline. In fact, it is essential to any relationship with God. Tune in and learn why denying the flesh its demands is crucial to the spiritual life.
