Walk after the spirit.

Are there such a thing as spirit guides? If so then what are they? What is their purpose in providing guidance? Are they loved ones speaking from beyond the grave? If not how could they know even private things only the one living and the one dead knew between themselves? Is there a darker more sinister motive other than to help and comfort? Or is the very idea of spirit poppycock?
