Things people don't know about God

We made a start last week of getting into some of God’s character traits and you know even after almost two decades I am still amazed at peoples confusion as to what God is like. God [is] not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do [it]? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? (Numbers 23:19). God is not like us, God is good and that means that what he does is good. It may not look or sound good to us but guess who’s wrong? This is why we are called to change the way we think about God, to recognise that he is for us not against us. Once we realise these things then God hating and confusing those who oppose him is God hating and confusing those who would prevent him from saving us! In Isaiah 45:7 it says….I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these…… and in I Kings 22:23 it says…..the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets…..In Psalm 5:5.…..thou hatest all workers of iniquity……..People have real problems with these texts and many like them simply because they are looking at them from the wrong angle.
