In Western culture black is black and white is white, male - male and female - female or so it should all be according to the extreme dualistic construct that we hold for reality in our culture. Thousands of years ago Eastern culture recognized that one extreme of a concept always contained a bit of its opposite thus the symbol and concept of yin/yang was created. The idea of gradations of opposites is very difficult for us to conceive of in our culture and yet that respect for what is of feminine expression in a mostly male being or of the opposite is essential if we want to recognize, enjoy and express our full self. Viki King and Muriel Stockdale discuss ways in which to open ourselves to that vital part of ourselves representing our opposite nature, to find the white dot in the black part of yin and the black dot in the white part of yang. Viki, a consultant in Hollywood and writer of the popular book, "How to write a Movie in 21 Days", can be reached at www.vikiking.com. Muriel, artist, writer and recent winner of The Los Angeles Cinema Festival merit award for her script, "Gabriel's Flight" can be reached at www.epluribus.us.
