Today's Guest: Actress Julie Newmar, perhaps best known for playing Catwoman on the 1960s ABC-TV "batman" series starring Adam West and Burt Ward.

Mr. Media is recorded live before a studio audience of Eartha Kitt fans whose argument holds no catnip here … in the NEW new media capital of the world… St. Petersburg, Florida!

 

I didn’t know I would one day be talking to actress Julie Newmar when I left the showing of The Dark Knight Rises a month ago. Then I was thinking that Anne Hathaway was the best thing about that film and that she might just be the best Catwoman since… Julie Newmar.

I wonder what Julie Newmar will say about that!

In fact, this was the second time Miss Newmar has been on the pop culture screen in our household this year. A few months ago, my wife and daughter and I caught Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, a classic western in which she stars – although I didn’t realize that was her until today.

One of the fun elements of being Mr. Media is going back in time before encountering a guest to learn more about them – and often, seeing how many times your life has already intersected with their work.

In addition to Seven Brides, another place I recognized Miss Newmar from was an episode of “The Monkees,” of all things, in which she flirts with all four of the boys and demonstrates some sexy, Ann-Margaret like dance moves alongside Micky Dolenz.

And Miss Newmar also did memorable guest star turns in classic TV shows such as "Columbo," "Love American Style," "Get Smart," "Star Trek," "F Troop," "The Beverly Hillbillies," "Twilight Zone" and "Route 66."
