Master Landscape Architect, Richard Krumwiede, returns with information on the latest bill (AB1881) that became law January 1, 2010 and will affect ALL commercial landscape projects in California.
Local agencies must now adopt this new ordinance or implement a similar ordinance to meet the local conditions. This might be in the way of limited water schedules, rebates on efficient plumbing fixtures or higher rates for heavy users. The U.S. Green Building Council is implementing ways to encourage water conservation practices and will be increasing the credits available on LEED projects in the Water Efficiency segment.
Existing landscapes are also subject to the ordinance and the term "water budget" will now become part of the overall budget and planning process. The benefits to this type of regulation are many and here to discuss this today is Richard Krumwiede.
