What is it about music that makes us get up and boogie? Music is infectious and is the quintessential mood changer. Particularly with children. Join us in the grand finale of Father's Month with special guest LJ Martin (aka Uncle Jake) whose soul mission is to uplift the world and children through the gift of music and poetry. ABOUT OUR SPECIAL GUEST: Referred to as a mix of Dr. Martin Luther King & Dr. Seuss, LJ Martin, a grass root American of African Ancestry was born in Mc Comb, Mississippi, where he grew up, was witness to, and caught up in the social and racial turmoil that consumed America during the civil rights movement of the 50’s and 60’s. During his formative years, he was influenced by Medgar Evers, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and Malcolm X all of whom he met His writing and oratory skills evolved from expressing anger at the demoralizing subjugation of his race, to his poignant dream of helping to shape an inclusive world. Over the years, roads traveled included the March on Washington and eventually to California where he now lives and continues his journey of committed involvement, sharing his original messages with people of all ages, races and faiths about the importance of respecting, accepting and embracing the global community. As UNCLE JAKE shares his own globally inclusive teaching tool stories and songs of all genres as well as tried and proven standards for K-3, at Libraries, Kids Camps, Hospitals and any place children gather. He does it in a style uniquely his own for goodness sake, sharing and caring, growing, listening and learning sake and of course, for funny giggly giggles and smiley smiles. A Poetic Inspirator, he visits middle and upper schools to share poetic fusions to challenge and motivate students not only to stay in school, but to make education a life partner; for education translates to knowledge and knowledge translates to wisdom.
