I began my martial arts instruction in the 1970's under the tutledge of Professor Gilbert Bates, a Master under Grandmaster Wong Ark Yuey of the 5 Animal and 5 Family System. Professor Gilbert Bates holds a doctorate in oriental philosophy and also a student of other Masters such as the late Dr. Fenia Woo and Mai Lu Chiang.
