My guests tonight are Norma & her friend Patti from Alberta, Canada. I met Norma in Red Deer at the Raise Their Voice's human trafficking awareness event: The Trafficked + Exploited on April 15 & 16, 2011.

Norma is a survivor of child sexual abuse, which led to 28 years of being sexually exploited through street prostitution and human trafficking. Norma shares her life experiences to prevent young people from being exploited and to educate adults to recognize the signs of abuse and exploitation so that they can better help young people. Now in her 50s, Norma bears witness to the healing power of love and hope. She is a passionaaree advocate and educator. Norma is the recipient of a Woman of Courage Award from PAAFE (Prostitution Awareness and Action Foundation of Edmonton). Norma now works with many people and organizations, including Edmonton's Night Safety Center and The Chrysalis Network.

Edmonton's Night Safety Center 1-780-932-3036 - for victims of sexual assault and human traffickings. Hours Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday from 10pm to 8am.

The Chrysalis Network offers a free, confidential trauma counselling service to women and men who have been trafficked and exploited for the purposes of commercial sex and forced labour. When you are ready to talk, (they're) here to listen. Give (them) a call at: 1-866-528-7109. Website: http://www.chrysalisnetwork.org/
