“Kids are so resilient!” How many times have you heard an adult say that? We often say those kinds of things to make the adult feel better about a very stressful situation. Yes, children are resilient, but resiliency doesn’t mean that they aren’t affected by the things that happen to and around them. Adults are often the ones advocating for and testifying about illnesses that affect a number of families every day. But how often do we hear what young people who are affected by these illnesses have to say? Sometimes we get so caught up in how WE feel about a tragic occurrence that we forget to recognize how children feel. Join us as we discuss cancer, diabetes, asthma, HIV, and STDs from the teen’s perspective.
