ACT = Acceptance and Commitment Therapy 3 pillars – OPEN – AWARE – ACTIVE = Psychological Flexibility OPEN 1. Acceptance = Make room for whatever shows up inside of you – ‘let whatever happens be OK. Notice your resistance to what is 2. Notice that your thoughts are just thoughts – Fusion and Defusion AWARE 1. Use this Moment to bring your awareness to this exact moment – without Judgement = Mindfulness 2. Self as Context = you are big enough to contain all of your internal experiences as they happen – no need for overwhelm ACTIVE 1. Take Purposeful action in the service of what you care about - Values – What's important to you 2. Choose the direction that you want to head in - The Choice Point
