Mike Tidwell is founder and director of the Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN) the first grassroots, nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to fighting global warming in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. CCAN aims educate and mobilize citizens of the DC Metropolitan region in a way that fosters a rapid societal switch to clean energy and energy-efficient products. Beyond being an award winning activist, Mike is an author, filmmaker, radio host, and owner of a 95% renewable energy house in Takoma Park, MD. Mike’s house is equipped with energy-efficient appliances and light bulbs and is powered by photovoltaic solar panels, a solar hot-water system, and a corn-burning home-heating stove.
