The Wider Meaning of Prayer

     The dictionary describes prayer as a devout petition to God or an object of worship. Many pray to various gods. As Christians, the only being in the invisible realm to whom we pray is God. All our petitions are directed to Him and Him alone. Our enemies are the devil and evil spirits whom the Word of God commands us to resist. Therefore, much of our prayer is for God to deal with them directly or give us the power and authority to engage them on His behalf in the Name of Christ Jesus. When we address the spirits, it is not with petitions, but with authoratative rebukes and commands. It is encounter, engagement and enforcement of the Divine will.
