In this episode of Bringing Voices To Power I talk with Huntsville's Michelle Watkins. Michelle, a former educator has entered the Huntsville City School Board District 1 race. Michelle attended Alabama A&M University and has a Master's in Secondary Education, Business Education. Watkins a former secretary of the J.O. Johnson Alumni Association and former school teacher stresses the need for "transparency and accountability" in District 1. Watkins says she's a voice for children and that it takes a village to raise a child and it takes a village to educate a child" and says this is all about the children and not about her. If elected Watkins plans to organize more mentor groups for at-risk youth and hold more community forums.
