Most will admit our federal government is out of control.  While the people created the states and then the states created a federal government to serve their needs, that creation has turned into a monster that threatens to eat the very ones who gave it life.  In the closing hours of the Philidelphia Convention, the Constitution was nearly ready to be signed by the delegates from each state when George Mason noted that while there was a provision to amend the constitution if needed in the future, it was only at the request of congress itself.  Mason suggested that a federal government gone awry would not likely restrain itself.  Indeed.  Article V was expanded so that either congress or the states could propose amendments.  The Convention of States Project (www.conventionofstates.com) is an organized effort to restrain that monster.  There are many questions about such a convention, and just this past week a simulated convention was held in Williamsburg, VA to give it a dry run of sorts.  Proceedures and rules were put into actual practice so when the day comes for the real thing, there will be an idea of what to expect.  Monday evening at 7:00 PM central join me as I visit with guest David Schneider, Regional Director for the Convention of States Project.  David was on hand at the simulation, listen to what he has to say about the process and those involved.  Of course, we welcome you to call with your questions or comments.  Call in number is 773-897-6299, press 1 if you'd like to speak to us.  As always, you can listen on the phone line or via the web.
