The Power of the Tongue

We attended a open mic session this week in which the topic was "the power of the tongue". I was truly amazed at all the perspectives that were expressed with regards to the importance of planting positive seeds with your words versus planting weeds designed to stifle growth. We as poets, rappers,singers, professional athletes and performers, etc., in addition to simple everyday individuals living in a struggling society, have a responsibility to inspire and encourage with our words and actions for that matter. We spoke about what color we thought our tongue would be based on how we use it and why it is so important to stop and think before we speak. Certainly food for thought.
