As a young man he became interested in film making because he was the still photographer for a National Geographic Television Show about the Amazon River. Two of his immediate film and television bosses included actor Alan Young and Kay Kyser of Big Band and Television fame. James R. Holland has also created many books including The Amazon, Mr. Pops, Tanglewood, W.O'K's Weird Wacky Wonderful World, Diamonds Are Waiting For You, Klan Rally, Fisheyes, Santa's Elves Revolt and Politics: Puns and Parody. He has recently published Adventure Photographer (A Bit of Boston Books/ 2009). In addition, James R. Holland reviews movies exclusively for Basil & Spice.
