It’s the diet that everyone’s talking about (and probably at least one of your friends is doing it!) – the 5:2 intermittent fasting diet claims to revolutionise the way you think about food! By “fasting” just two days a week it is claimed that you can lose weight, and potentially lower your risk of age-related conditions such as Alzheimer’s and Heart Disease.
Made famous by the BBC’s Horizon programme Eat, Fast and Live Longer, studies have shown fasting twice a week to have a significant impact on weight loss, and its tens of thousands of committed followers are testament to this.
So what’s the secret? In this show we will be looking at the science behind the concept of intermittent fasting, and why it may be beneficial not just as a means of losing weight, but also for your long-term health. We will be speaking to a follower of the diet to hear about her experiences, and the results she has had. We will also be considering the practicalities of the 5:2 diet, and how it can be incorporated into your everyday life.
