Paul Keller started playing guitar at age 14 in Southern California, then soon after moved to the Bay Area. With a friend’s advice Paul became interested in music by Yes, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin.

In 1974, a salesman at Guitar Showcase heard Paul playing and suggested he audition for a band who'd posted an ad. Paul auditioned, then joined Hush with Robert Berry, Gene Perrault, and Mike Dimock. Over a ten year period Hush played hundreds of shows, starting with dances, clubs, and then opening for touring bands. Hush recorded a couple records and received a Bammie award for one of them.

Hush performed until 1985 when Robert left the band for songwriting collaborations in England. In 1987, Robert called Paul to tell him he'd been working with a new band from England called “3” with Keith Emerson and Carl Palmer from (Emerson Lake & Palmer). “3” would be touring the following year and Robert asked if Paul would be interested in playing guitar for the group.

Paul quit his job in February of 1988 and in March the band took off for a 45-city tour of the US. The band broke up later that year, before a planned tour of Europe, so Paul went back to his tech job, got married 5 years later, had twin daughters, and spent the next 18 years playing a few shows a year with Robert.

In 2018, Robert released a progressive rock album in collaboration with Keith Emerson, 3.2 The Rules Have Changed. Following a great response to the 3.2 album, Robert asked Paul to join the live band to start touring in late 2019. Now Paul is learning the songs for the 3.2 US tour.
