Sidra Lackey was born on January 5, 1983, in Philadelphia, PA but raised in The Bronx, New York, residing not far from Poe Cottage where writer Edgar Allan Poe spent the last years of his life. Sidra has loved writing since she first learned how to write and earned her BA in Professional Writing with honors from Lehman College in 2010. Her love for film started from a schoolgirl age, watching 90’s blockbusters at the local movie theatre with her family. From 2010-2012, she combined her passion for writing and movies and started a blog under the moniker: Cinemanista. In 2012 she briefly worked for an emerging blog DZI: The Voice, as the Senior Film Writer but then began microblogging independently about Film via Twitter until 2014. She wanted to try her hand at screenwriting and entered the 14th Annual 2014 Shriekfest Horror/Sci-Fi Film Festival/Screenplay Competition, successfully becoming a Finalist with her short horror screenplay “B-room.” Horror is the film and writing genre that has always fascinated, terrified and delighted Sidra and she hopes her work will steadily thrive within.
