Join us on the broadcast as we study Colossians 3:1-4 to understand why the Apostle Paul urges the saints at Colossae to set their affections on the things that are in heaven and not the things that are on earth. This command came during a time when there was a strict asceticism, and people where attempting to purify themselves by codes of strict prohibition and and ritualism and formalism. They also was subject to the false philosophy of antinomianism, and for this reason the Apostle Paul encourage them to set their affections on things above and not on earthly things that have no eternal value. Like the saints at Colossae we are to be aware of seductive teachings for pursuing worldly possession, and craving desires for the lust of the world that takes away our affect for heavenly things. It is imperative that we that are risen with Christ seek those things that are above, and we are dead with Christ, then our life is hid with Christ and we should no longer lust and long for the things of the world, and try to obtain them through human sacrifices. There is a place of contentment in God.
