Steve lives and works in Roane County TN. He calls himself a recovering engineer and is best known as the prolific canoe and kayak designer for Dagger Canoe Company, which he helped found and grow into worldwide prominence. Today he divides his time between real estate and business interests and his work as an environmental activist serving on the board of Conservation Fisheries a group that works to propagate and restore rare fish species. In 2006 Governor Phil Bredesen appointed Steve to the Tennessee Conservation Commission and was recently voted Chair by the commission members. He also serves on the Tennessee Oil and Gas Board. Steve's office in Kingston overlooks the confluence of the Emory and Clinch Rivers, site of the TVA coal ash disaster. His property lies in the section of the Emory River affected by TVA's cat-ash-trophe and was on the market the night the disaster began. He has been actively working with everyone involved in the recovery effort and has been on the front lines of communication and keeping everyone honest and informed as the proprietor of RoaneViews.com, a Progressive New Media community site where citizens share information in Roane County. Steve posts at RoaneViews, KnoxViews, and several other new media sites under the "nom de type" of WhitesCreek.
