Rev. Eva Buthy is a currently preparing for retirement from the Army with a combination of Active Duty and Reserve Duty of 26 years. She will be discussing the Army Chaplaincy compared to Civilian Pastorate and Selfless Service in a world focused on individual. She was born in Siofok, Hungary. Her family left Hungary during the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, and took refuge in Buffalo, New York. Eva and her family became American Citizens in October 1962. Rev. Buthy first joined the U.S. Army in January 1974 as a WAC (Women’s Army Corp). Rev. Buthy completed her Bachelors Degree in Philosophy from Buffalo State College, Buffalo, New York. She holds a Masters of Divinity Degree from Colgate Rochester Divinity School, Rochester, New York. She is an Ordained Minister in the United Church of Christ (UCC) since May 1991. Currently, Rev. Buthy is enrolled in a Doctorate of Ministry Program with Erskine Seminary in Due West, South Carolina. Currently, Rev. Buthy serves St.Andrew United Church of Christ in Mishawaka, Indiana as Pastor since Feb. 2009. Rev. Buthy is single and makes her permanent home in Niles, Michigan.
