Is it really a "New Day" in Texas and America? I review the SOTU address and comment negatively on Obama's motivations to increase taxes on the wealthiest Americans which is just more class warfare and bad economic policy and give France as an example. I am; however, that Obama offers hawkish rhetoric with regard to terrorism and ISIL. Until now I have critical of Obama's response to ISIL and terrorism. I am, on the other hand, critical of Obama on Immigration Reform and criticize him for not promoting CIR. I maintain he is no hero on that subject. Lastly, I criticize Obama for taking a victory lap on the economy when the statistics when fully examined show a very weak recovery and still a precarious situation. Lastly, I continue to blame Obama and the Democrats for the moral decay that has beset our nation. Before I go on to Texas news I comment on the Tea party response by Clawson of Florida who tauted among other issues the Tea party's desire to limit all forms of immigration which confirms what I have said about them for years now: The Tea Party is nativist and isolationist. Then on to issues in Texas and I read an article about the new Texas Governor, Greg Abbott, who is struggling to post conciliatory rhetoric to Latinos and minorities in Texas while he hides from his support for the anti-Latino Arizona SB 1070. Simultaneously, the commentary in the article was about Joe Straus, Speaker and Abbott trying to contain radical Lt. Governor, Dan Patrick. Patrick who will reinvent himself depending upon who is listening and, in my opinion, has ZERO honor, will cater to the radical anti-immigration forces from the Tea Party. Finally, I read quickly an article detailing the US Chamber of Commerce 13 steps to a robust economy which they agree is still very weak and could easily collapse. Among those options they declare Immigration Reform is Key. LatinoTalk Texas is news, issues and interviews important to Latinos in America.
