A natural-born musician, singer/songwriter Jay Speight began playing piano at age 9, singing in junior high, picked up guitar while a sophomore in college and was inspired early on by such musical legends as Billy Joel, Elton John, Lionel Ritchie and The Eagles to name a few. Upon graduation, Jay moved to Nashville where he interned, and later worked for, Universal Records Nashville as a receptionist. In 2005 he got his first break, being co-signed by Pitchfork Music Group and Scott Lynch & Company as a staff songwriter. Most recently, his song “High Time For Gettin’ Down” was recorded by Travis Tritt on last years’ album “The Storm” (produced by Randy Jackson of American Idol fame).
