The Psalms in this study are from a group of fifteen psalms known as Psalms of Ascent: Psalms 120-134. Most conservative scholars beleive the word ascent refers to the going up to Jerusalem during the three major feasts of the Jewish calendar: The Feast of Unleavened Bread (Passover), the Feast of Weeks (Pentecost), and the Feast of Tabernacles (including the day of Atonement). Some scholars beleive that these Psalms were written to be sung on the fifteen steps that lead from the outer court to the inner court of the temple, pne sung on each step. Whether these are true, we don;t know for sure, but we do know that they addressed the human need for the joy of that God brings to His people and for His being with us as we are faced with the trials of life. This study will examine four of these Psalms.
