When we look at sports headlines many of think the final scores are primarily based on the physical dominance and superiority of the winners. That’s true in theory and clearly in part, but to really win at a high level consistency requires a certain state of mind and focus. I like to call it mental toughness and awareness and that all starts with individuals being good with whom they are. On this week’s show we’re going to look at some of the challenges facing elite athletes on and off the court.

How ‘bout that them Carolina Panthers and Cam Newton? Newton is a great example of how being good with yourself and clear about whom you are translates to success on the field. Why does Cam’s happiness for playing the game he loves offend so many people? We’ll look at that and more. Tennis legend Zina Garrison joins us on today’s show to talk about why it has been so difficult for an American tennis player other than Venus and Serena Williams to win a major championship. The USTA has more players in the top 100 than they’ve had in years, so why can’t they take the next step?

We will also talk about how this challenge in tennis is a challenge in other sports as well. It will be an entertaining and informative hour of sports talk you don’t want to miss!
