- India did it years ago, as did Israel, Great Britain and the Philippines. So did Germany, Chile and Liberia. Even Pakistan, where women in some regions are forbidden to leave their homes without a male escort, is among the 42 countries that have had at least one woman as president or prime minister over the last half century. - Kenya is at a cross-roads, there is a New Constitution, there is a New Wave, a New Generation, and this wave may be the catalyst that will create room for a woman president. - Do you think Kenya will see a female president in the near future? Or do you remain a skeptic. In theory, everybody is ready to vote for a woman for president and break the glass ceiling. But when it comes to actual candidates and actually electing women, there could be a long road ahead. For 2012, there are women positioning themselves to run, and we shall see how it goes, but we, as Kenyans, will make that decision. For now, the answer is not so clear.
