RFB Radio ~ Are we living in a State of Jahiliyyah? (Infidel Ignorance?)

Jahiliyyah is an Islamic concept of "ignorance of divine guidance" or "the state of ignorance of the guidance from God" which was the term used by Sayyid Qutb to describe Western mores. On his return to Egypt, Qutb published "The America that I Have Seen." He was critical of things he had observed in the United States: its materialism, individual freedoms, superficiality in conversations and friendships,"animal-like" mixing of the sexes,(which "went on even in churches"), and strong support for the new Israeli State. He was an Egyptian author, educator, Islamic theorist, and the leading member of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood in the 1950s and 1960s. In 1966 he was convicted of plotting the assassination of Egyptian president Gamel Abdel Nasser and was executed by hanging.
