Murder in the Ukrainian Skies

Army Colonel Gilberto Villahermosa served for 33 years and has traveled extensively throughout Afghanistan, first in 1995, when he entered the country for discussions with Tajik rebels; then as the Executive Officer for the Commander of NATO’s International Security and Assistance Force (ISAF) and the U.S. Senior National Representative to NATO in Kabul (2004-2005); and finally with the United States Central Command in 2012.

As the Senior Defense Official and Defense Attaché in Yemen he experienced first-hand Al Qaeda’s 17 September 2008 attack on the U.S. Embassy in Sana’a which killed more than a dozen people, developed America’s counter-terrorism centric engagement strategy, which prevented an Al Qaeda tipping point in the region in 2009, and grew the military budget from $4 to almost $200 million a year, while overseeing a U.S. Military Group of more than 150 military personnel.

Gilberto Villahermosa is a Published Author and experienced Public Speaker.  He is the author of “Honor and Fidelity. The 65th Infantry in Korea” and “Hitler’s Paratrooper. The Life and Battles of Rudolph Witzig”.  His third book, “Hitler’s Paratroopers in Normandy. The German II Parachute Corps in the Battle for France 1944” is due to be published this Summer by Frontline Books in London.

Colonel Villahermosa is also the On-Camera Historian for the PBS award-winning documentary “The Borinqueneers”, which details the trials and tribulations of the Puerto Rico Regiment in the Korean War.
