More songs and poems have been written about love than almost all other subjects combined.  Most of them are about romantic love – the highs, the lows, the joys, the pain.  At one of her concerts, Barbra Streisand said that the good thing about sad love affairs is the songs they inspire, and she went on to sing a sad love song. Of course, there are many other kinds of love, besides romantic love. There’s the love parents feel for their children and children feel for their parents. There’s the beautiful love of friendship.  And there’s the kind of love we feel about things that that give us pleasure – music, theater, places, food, activities, possessions, ideas, etc. But the most powerful love of all is unconditional love, called agape love in the Bible. True unconditional love has the power to heal.
