The word Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word that means to “yoke” or “unite.” You are uniting your attention and awareness with a higher Consciousness. Today, many people practice Hatha Yoga as their choice of exercise, or simply because they enjoy it. Other forms of yoga include Bhakti, Karma, Jnana, Raja and Kriya. In today’s fascinating show, Beverly Nadler will briefly describe these forms, and primarily focus on the physical, emotional and spiritual benefits of Hatha and Kriya Yoga.
Some of the research may amaze and inspire you – such as a study of more than 15,000 overweight adults in their 50s who were not dieting, and did Hatha Yoga only once a week for 4 years and lost an average of 5lbs, while a similar group of overweight adults gained over of 13.5 lbs. during the same time period. People with severe disabilities can do yoga, thanks to a paralyzed man who created a system that allows anyone to experience the benefits.
