Allan Combs is a Professor of Transformative Studies from the California Institute of Integral Studies as well as the director of the Integral Focus of the doctoral program. Professor Combs's background is in neuropsychology, systems science, and consciousness. He has held appointments at the Saybrook Graduate School and the Assisi Conferences and he is also the Professor Emeritus at the University of North Carolina-Asheville as well as the Co-Director of the Integral Studies program leading to a Master’s in Conscious Evolution at the Graduate Institute of Connecticut. Professor Combs is also the winner of the 2002-2003 National Teaching Award of the Association of Graduate Liberal Studies Programs, and in the same year he held the UNCA Honorary Ruth and Leon Feldman Professorship. He is the co-founder of the Integral Foundation and The Society for Chaos Theory in Psychology and the Life Sciences, a member of The General Evolution Research Group, the Integral Institute, the Forge Institute, and one-hundred member Club of Budapest. Combs is the co-editor of the Journal of Conscious Evolution as well as the Associate Editor of Dynamical Psychology. Professor Combs has authored more than 100 articles, chapters, and books with a focus on consciousness and the brain. His publications include The Radiance of Being (2ed): Understanding the Grand Integral Vision; Living the Integral Life; Changing Visions: Human Cognitive Maps Past, Present, and Future; Chaos Theory in Psychology and the Life Sciences; Nonlinear Dynamics in Human Behavior; Synchronicity: Through the Eyes of Science, Myth, and the Trickster, co-authored by Mark Holland; Mind in Time: The Dynamics of Thought, Reality, and Consciousness; and he also authored Consciousness Explained Better. Tonight, he will join us to discuss his book: Synchronicity: Through the Eyes of Science, Myth, and the Trickster.
